Philips is known for manufacturing state of the art televisions, adding components and features that many of their competitors have failed to include in comparable models. Philips 40PFL7605 is not an exception to this rule. Philips has packed the 40PFL7605 with numerous special features that offset some of the standard features that the television curiously lacks.

Featuring 3 HDMI slots, SCART connections, an Ethernet port, a USB port, and component video inputs and outputs, the Philips 40PFL7605 is compatible with the most commonly used connections today. Philips has designed this television with the ability to closely mount it to a wall in mind, having designed it so that cables and cords will not interfere with the mounting. This is because most of the video inputs and outputs are facing downwards, making a close fit possible.
Although Philips has not included a Freeview HD tuner with the 40PFL7605, it has many other notable features. The most obvious new feature is the inclusion of edge LED backlighting. Thanks to this innovation, Philips was able to make this television extremely thin. When manufacturing 40PFL7605, Philips also gave it a feature called Ambilight Spectra 2. By projecting color matching lights to the perimeter of the television, this technology creates more immersive viewing. Pixel Precise HD is another technology that Philips has include, which can display 4 trillion colors at once and smoothly during fast action sequences on the screen.
Another great feature of the Philips 40PFL7605 is the inclusion of an Ethernet port. Using this connection, it is possible to hook the television up to either a wired or wireless home network. Once connected to the internet, owners of the 40PFL7605 can take advantage of several features that Phillips provides. One feature that is available is called DNLA, a streaming technology that allows the streaming of multimedia content from other devices on the network to the television. Using Net TV, owners can also take advantage of web sites like YouTube and DailyMotion to watch streaming videos.
The quality of the picture that the television produces is the most important factor in rating the device. In this regard, the 40PFL7605 performs very well. With 1080p HD picture quality, the colours displayed are bright and the images are crisp. The television also has 2ms response time, allowing the picture to remain sharp even when fast images are being displayed.
