I bought mine on Ebay. They seemed to be of very good quality and sounded very good when I got them. After maybe 3 months of somewhat daily use the wire at the "Y" started to get exposed. I contacted Monster and told me any units bought on Ebay are being sold by an unauthorized dealer. Now thats not to say they are fake but they will not honor the waranty unless I can produce a receipt from an authorized dealer. Mind you I paid close to half the going price on Ebay. Well needless to say I was upset but I doctored up the exposed wire with electrical tape and mini wire ties. They still work fine but im very disapointed with the quality. I believe they are NOT bootlegs but the real deal too. As far as the sound quality is concerned, I have to admit they are the best I have had although I dont feel the price justifies this. The 10 dollar pair I have doesnt quite sound the same but the price differiential is simply not worth it. And of course the quality is not great as well. Oh well live and learn!
