Will the Medusa NX 5.1 Gaming Headset work on my PC?
I bought THIS (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Plantronics-GameCom-367-Closed-Headset/dp/B001E42QYE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1270559641&sr=8-1) headset, as you can see, it has a pink and green 3.5mm jack (to put in the front of the computer) and the mic didn't work, but the headphones did. Whereas, the Medusa NX 5.1 has, 4, 3.5mm jacks (pink, green, yellow, black and a usb). I'm not sure whether to buy it, as I spent money on this last one and it didn't work properly. Btw, my current usb headset works fine. Yeah, a friend of mine built it, and I done a bit of research and heard of that peticular problem, didn't really test it .. It does work when I put it in the back of the PC, but I'm not really sure what type of sound card I have (5.1, 7.1 ect.)
Did you build the computer yourself? If so, make sure that you connected the front panel mic socket wire to the motherboard / sound card properly. It's very easy to confuse them as they are so fiddly to fit. To confirm this is the problem try using the mic input on the back of your computer instead, if that works then you know that's it. As you have been using a mic before I'll rule out setup as the issue and I presume you understand about mic boost etc
